1. Turn the following sentences into negative:
    (i) Putul has gone to the market.
    Ans : Putul has not gone to the market.

    (ii) The flower is beautiful.
    Ans : The flower is not beautiful.

    (iii) There are five thousand books in
    our school library.
    Ans : There are not five thousand
    books in our school library.

    (iv) Cherrapunji is the wettest place in
    the world.
    Ans : Cherrapunji is not the wettest
    place in the world.

    (v) Ranjan can go home alone.
    Ans : Ranjan can not go home alone.

    (vi) We should study eight hours a day.
    Ans : We should not study eight hours
    a day.

    (vii) You must agree with him on this
    point.
    Ans : You must not agree with him on
    this point.

    (viii) John writes English well.
    Ans : John does not write English well.

    (ix) Rahim likes mangoes.
    Ans : Rahim does not like mangoes.

    (x) All birds fly to their nests in the
    evening.
    Ans : All birds do not fly to their nests
    in the evening.

    (xi) My brother tells lies.
    Ans : My brother does not tell lies.

    (xii) Mr. Sarma teaches us math.
    Ans : Mr. Sarma does not teach math.

    (xiii) The hunter killed the tiger with a
    gun.
    Ans : The hunter did not kill the tiger
    with a gun.

   (xiv) He knows how to make a boat.
    Ans : He does not know how to make a
    boat.

    (xv) All dogs bark at night.
    Ans : All dogs do not bark at night.

2. Turn the following sentences into interrogative :
    (i) This is an apple.
    Ans : Is this an apple?

   (ii) The boy is honest.
    Ans : Is the boy honest?

   (iii) The children are playing hide and
    seek.
    Ans : Are the children playing hide and
    seek?

    (iv) They were eager to know about the
    accident.
    Ans : Were they eager to know about
    the accident?

   (v) Mr. Baruah can speak English
    fluently.
    Ans : Can Mr. Baruah speak English
    fluently?

    (vi) He must go there now.
    Ans : Must he go there now?

   (vii) Dilip likes coffee.
    Ans : Does Dilip like coffee?

   (viii) A mother loves her children.
    Ans : Does a mother love her children?

    (ix) Tigers eat flesh.
    Ans : Do tigers eat flesh?

   (x) The soldiers fought well.
    Ans : Did the soldiers fight well?

    (xi) The boy laughted at the lame man.
    Ans : Did the boy laugh at the lame
    man?

    (xii) The teacher told us to do it today.
    Ans : Did the teacher tell us to do it
    today?

   (xiii) The boys threw stones at the dog.
    Ans : Did the boys throw stones at the
    dog?

    (xiv) It was a good film.
    Ans : Was it a good film?

    (xv) She has a big car.
    Ans : Has she a big car?
