Exercise 4. Define a concrete noun. How it is different from an abstract. noun? Explain giving examples:
Ans: A concrete noun is one that names a concrete object --- a person, place, thing, material or a collection of things or persons etc.
        Concrete nouns refer to things that have physical form like door, clock, aeroplane etc. But abstract nouns refer to things that have no physical forms like time, result, theft, beauty etc.

Exercise 5. What are countables and uncountables. Give examples.
Ans: The nouns that can be counted are called countables. Ex. Pen, ball, fruit etc.
The nouns that cannot be counted are called uncountable nouns. Ex. Water, oil etc.

Exercise 6. Given below are ten nouns. Sort them as countables and uncountables:
        boat, butter, hare, honey, bench, water, pencils, sugar, book, rice.
Ans: Countable : boat, hare, bench, pencils, book. Uncountable : butter, honey, water, sugar, rice.

Ans: A material noun names a substance or material of which things are made.

(d) Collective Nouns
Ans: A collective noun names a group or collection of persons, animals or things as a complete whole.

(e) Concrete Nouns
Ans: A concrete noun is one that names a concrete object-a person,
place, thing, material or a collection of things or persons etc.

(f) Abstract Nouns
Ans: A abstract noun is one that have no physical forms .
