1. Turn the following Sentences into Negative:
    (a) He has a pet dog.
    Ans: He has hot a pet dog.

    (b) She will go with you.
    Ans: She will not go with you.

    (c) The girl sings well.
    Ans: The girl does not sing well.

    (d) We believed him.
    Ans: We did not believe him.

    (e) They lived in that house.
    Ans: They did not live in that house.

    (f) The sun shines brightly.
    Ans: The sun does not shine brightly.

    (g) You must learn the whole poem.
    Ans: You must not learn the whole
    poem.

    (h) He comes here everyday.
    Ans: He does not come here everyday.

    (i) We like mangoes.
    Ans: We do not like mangoes.

    (j) The hunter killed the tiger.
    Ans: The hunter did not kill the tiger.

    (k) You ought to go home now.
    Ans: You ought not go home now.

    (l) We went to Jorhat by train.
    Ans: We did not go to Jorhat by train.

    (m) He was working at a distance.
    Ans: He was not working at a distance.

    (n) We returned home in the afternoon.
    Ans: We did not return home in the
    afternoon.

    (o) He got a prize.
    Ans: He did not get a prize.

2. Turn the following Sentences into Integrative:
    (a) The boys are playing football.
    Ans : Are the boys playing football?

    (b) He went with his father.
    Ans : Did he go with his father?

    (c) She has gone home.
    Ans : Has she gone home?

    (d) He stood first in the examination.
    Ans: Did he stand first in the
    examination?

    (e) We visited the place last year.
    Ans: Did we visit the place last year?

    (f) The farmer ploughs the field.

    (k) I shall start for Guwahati tomorrow.

    (l) He heard the news.
    Ans: Did he hear the news?

3. Turn the following Sentences into
Exclamatory:
    (a) It is very hot to-day.
    Ans: How hot it is today!

    (b) Lata sings very sweetly.
    Ans: How sweetly Lata sings!

    (c) That was a very strange sight.
    Ans: How strange sight that was!

    (d) You are a great fool.
    Ans: What a fool you are!

    (d) Can you speak Bengali well?
    Ans: No, I can't speak Bengali well.

    (e) Can he post a letter?
    Ans: No, he can't post a letter.

5. Make the following sentences negative:
    (a) He must come again.
    Ans: He mustn't come again.

    (b) Samga will find time to come here.
    Ans: Samga won't find time to come
    here.

    (c) There are some more books.
    Ans: There aren't some more books.

    (d) He comes here today.
    Ans: He doesn't come here today.

    (e) You must go this morning.
    Ans: You mustn't go this morning.

6. Change the Assertive Sentences to Interrogative Sentences:
    (a) Everyone loves rose.
    Ans: Who doesn't love rose?

    (b) We should never forget Netaji.
    Ans: Should we ever forget Netaji?

    (c) Everybody will help a man in
    distress.
    Ans: Who will not help a man in
    distress?

    (d) The glory of India never fades.
    Ans: When can the glory of India fade?

    (e) There is not good wasting time.
    Ans: Is there any good wasting time?

    (f) This is not the behaviour of an
    educated man.
    Ans: Is this the behaviour of an
    educated man?

    (g) A lame man cannot walk properly.
    Ans: Can a lame man walk properly?

    (h) Everyone will love his country.
    Ans: Who will not love his country?

7. Change Interrogative Sentences to
Assertive Sentences:
    (a) When can their glory fade?
    Ans: Their glory never fades.

    (b) Can a leopard change his sports?
    Ans: A leopard cannot change his
    sports.

    (c) What is the use of such a machine?
    Ans:There is no use of such a machine.

    (d) Does not prevention better than
    cure?
    Ans: Prevention is better than cure.

    (e) Who could have trusted Socrates or
    Coleridge?
    Ans: None could have trusted Socrates
    or Coleridge.

    (f) If you prick us, do we not bleed?
    Ans: We surely bleed when we are
    pricked.

    (g) Is that the way a gentleman should
    behave?
    Ans: That is not the way a gentleman
    should behave.

    (h) Who would have thought of him
    capable of such a deed?
    Ans: None would have thought him
    capable of such a deed.

8. Transform into Assertive:
    (a) Who does not wish to be happy?
    Ans: Everyone wishes to be happy.

    (b) Can the glory of INA ever fade?
    Ans: The glory of INA never fades.

    (c) Where will you find such a good
    man?
    Ans: You will nowhere find such a good
    man.

    (d) Is not Rabindranath a world poet?
    Ans: Rabindranath is a world poet.

    (e) Can anybody trust a liar?
    Ans: Nobody trust a liar.

    (f) Will not truth prevail in the long run?
    Ans: Truth will prevail in the long run.

    (g) Who can control the sea?
    Ans: None can control the sea.

    (h) Who has not heard of Swami
    Vivekananda?
    Ans: Everybody has heard of Swami
    Vivekananda.

    (i) If you wrong us, shall we not
    revenge?
    Ans: We will surely revenge, when we
    are wronged.

    (j) Can any man escape death?
    Ans: No man can escape death.

    (h) Should you not love your mother
    land?
    Ans: You should love your mother land.

9. Transform into Interrogative:
    (a) Everybody knows him.
    Ans: Who does know him?

    (b) There is no use wasting your time.
    Ans: Is there any use of wasting time?
